HUGH MORENZ Lorne Fenner and his, brother-in-law, Ken Westman, of London, attend- ed the Indianapolis 500 races last Sunday May 29. Dorothy Fenner spent the weekend in London with her sister, Audrey Westman. Alex Russell and Jason Finkbeiner were among the 19 cubs who went to the Huron District Carnporee at Benmiller on the weekend. May 30, 1983. Funeral service was held Thursday afternoon June 2 from Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. M. Mellecke of- ficiating. Interment was at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bev. Keller, Earl Keller, Wayne Keller, Willis Desjardine, Russell Fischer and Allan Schatz. After the service lunch refreshments were served to relatives, neighbours, and friends in the education rooms of the church by the Zion ladies. Mrs. Ruth McAreavy, her son and wife, Dennis and Mary McAreavy, Ruth's brother and wife, Joe and Patsy Sherritt, of Calgary, Alberta, visited here last week with their cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Fenner and Mrs. Mabel Guenther. They all made the trip to Ontario to attend the wedding of Ricky Sherritt, in Hamilton. May 28. The McAreavy family left for home Saturday night, but the Sherritts, up to Ontario for the first time, continued on to vacation at the east coast of C.nada. Hugh and Annie Morenz visited Sunday afternoon with the Corbett families of Hen- sall area. Annie attended a bridal shower, at Donna Cor- bett's home, for the fiancee Donna Bickel!, of Mitchell, of Joey Chaffe, a great nephew of the Morenz's. Helpers at the shower in- cluded Janine Corbett and Sheila Riley. Readings were given by Joey's grandma, Hazel Cor- bett of Hensall, and his little six-year-old sister Sally enter- tained with tap dancing. The wedding date of the young couple is June 18th. Visitors a day last week at their Morenz cousins home were Wes and Stuart Col- eman, of London. The squirts baseball team held their first game of the season at West Williams Thursday evening. UCW meets at Crediton The Crediton United Church Women mot in the Sunday School rooms of Zion United Church on Thursday evening. The Explorer ,girls entertained with singing and were presented with their stars and other awards by leaders Wendy King and Mary Draisey. First red stars were presented to Robin Mason, Sally Mason and Jodi Arm- strong; second red star, Kris- ty Dobson, Tena Lamport; se- cond -blue star, DenniseHen- drick, Kim Lansbergen, Christina Glanville and Gia King; second gold, Laura Draisey, Angela Lansbergen and Charlene Browning. Perfect attendance, uniform gifts and graduating gifts were presented by the leaders. Lunch of cake and ice cream was served by the May and June committees. The business was opened with prayer by president Marie Fydenchuk. The roll call was taken followed by the secretary and treasurer reports. Vacation Bible School will he held the week of July 25 and the ladies will be serving cookies and freshie. The Huron Presbyterial campsite experience will be held June 16 at Camp Menesetung in Goderich. All U.C.W. ladies are welcome. The September meeting will be held September 8. Thank you to Mrs. Dave Cottel who wrote the news for me last week while I was in hospital. Thanks for all the cards, visits, flowers and treats I received while in hospital and since returning home.
