For the first 25 years the bank was located at 374 Main Street (now the Clin- ton Community Credit Union) and for the last 5 years at 280 Main Street at Gidley Street. Scotiabank is the second oldest Canadian bank, having received its charter on March 30, 1832 in Nova Scotia and on August 29,1832 opened its first branch in Halifax. STAGE REUNIONS It has been more than 15 years since the small rural schools in the Dashwood area were closed to make way for the central school system. Reunions are being planned for the next three Saturdays at the Dashwood Hotel. Former students and staff are invited back to reminisce and participate in a social time of playing euchr, solo and darts. I This Saturday, April 23, the Dashwood Public School will be featured, Saturday, April 30 is set aside for former par- ticipants of Sharon and Blackbush schools and Satur- day, May 7 it will be Smoky Hollow and SS No. 8. The reunions will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Dashwood Hotel and all plan- ning on attending are being asked to bring along pictures and any other memorabilia of their "good old schooldays." Surprises never cease. Especially for those of us who 'awakened Sunday mousing to find that we were in the mid - die of a -snow storm.. The Ladies Auxiliary held their regular monthly meeting as scheduled. Enter- tainment was supplied by Mr. and Mrs. Earl Deichert and Susan who provided piano and violin music.. Residents and guests joined in..com- munity singing which is always a pleasure for them. Joy Kuepfer, Sonya Shantz, Lori Martin and Karen Steckle entertained with a skit entitled "Visiting the Sick" which was very enter- taining. Following the pro- gram, everyone enjoyed the refreshments. On Monday the last of our film programs was shown due to the longer day -light hours. They will be resumed in the' fall with fresh enthusiasm. We are indebted to Mr. Leroy Erb of Bayfield who looked after transporting the films to and from Goderich to Bayfield, and Mrs. Nellie Blok and Dianne Lochrner of the staff who helped with the transportation as well. The sympathy of residents and staff is extended to the families of the late Mrs. Helena Schultz and Mrs. Luella Drysdale. Bingo was enjoyed on Fri - Clay evening followed by refreshments. We welcome Mrs. Hilda Hedden, a former Hensall rellident. • The Ladies Auxiliary deserve a great deal of credit forthe exercise equipment they have rgcently purchased for use by the residents which is proving very beneficial under the direction of our ad- juvant, Mrs. Catherine Shantz, R.N.A. We hope visitors will see the quilt on display here and buy a ticket, - proceeds art for the work of the Auxiliary and • their •.assistance towards the residents. We also thank Baskin Rob- bins, Grand Bend, for the ice cream bunnies they donated for the enjoyment of the residents.
