Prayer service at Monkon, Monday evening. The theme was "Open the Door" for strength, faith and . pray without ceasing. An of- fering was taken for medical missions. Lunch and fellowship followed. Flowers were placed in Zion Lutheran Church Sunday by Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Miller and family in honor of Mrs. Reinhold Miller's 85th birthday, their mother and grandmother. The wheels of time turn and another small community is threatened - will we be left without banking facilities? They didn't see all our senior citizens walking to the bank or the employees of Arc In- dustries with their pass books and pay envelopes proudly and happily making their way down the street to do their own banking. Can a united front prevent our bank from closing? Time will tell. Women of Hibbert church enjoy pictures of south seas By MRS. J. UMPLEMAN • Stuffs The March meeting of Hib- bert United Church Women was held in the Family Life Centre March 9. Mrs. Ada Pethick and Mrs. Elaine Colquhoun conducted the program, beginning with a poem, March, and leading through hymn and scriptures to the current study of the church and people of the Pacific Islands. This month's presentation included a set of slides depic- ting the "Spirit of the South Seas" plus a current newspaper article describing some of their problems. A reading, A truly con- tented Women, closed the program. Mrs. Margaret Daynard chaired the business portion of the meeting and dealt with several important items including storage of old U.C.W. records and a letter concerning the work of the resource centre. Mrs. Margaret Christie and Mrs. Mary F. Dow, reported on a recent presbyterial ex- ecutive meeting. .Letters of appreciation will be sent to those whose generous donations of materials and skills produced the beautiful oak cross which now graces the front of the church. Donations Are to be made to the medical elective fund and last years penny collection is to be sent to support the seeds of Zaire. The Daffodil Tea at Main Street United, Mitchell March 26 and the Presbyterial special events, at North Street United Goderich April 11 were mentioned. Each others friendship was enjoyed over a dainty lunch served by Mrs. Florence McPhail and Mrs. Janet Dearing. The Ladies Aid tied a quilt for . the Unitarian Services, prior to, and during their regular meeting, Monday evening March 7, at the home of Mrs. Dorothy Miller. Mrs. Jean Carey presided opening with a poem, March. Nine ladies answered the roll with a verse from an Irish song. Mrs. Betty Dow led in Shipka By MRS. HUGH MORENZ Chris and Jenny Reaburn, spent a couple of days last week with Doug and Ann Russell, Connie, Alex, Elizabeth and Jill, while their parents Rick and Ann Reaburn attended the Pork Producers meeting in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Zielman and Angie, visited Sunday at their daughter's home, Susie and Wayne Robson, and baby Colin, at Essex. ' Angie re- mained at Susie's for the March break holidays. Sandra and Tony Regier, Chris, Heather and Jillian, of Detroit, spent the weekend with Sandra's parents, Ken and Ortha Baker. Mrs. Donald Russellas a pa- tient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Robbie Hern, of Woodham spent a couple days holiday here this week at his sister's, Linda and John Wuerth, Rebecca and Sarah. A reminder! There will be a euchre party at the Com- munity Centre here tonight March 23. Devotions, prayer and gave a humorous reading. During business a donation was made to Unitarian Ser- vices. Members moved to cater to a wedding reception August 6 and a committee was named. A committee was appointed to head the annual strawberry and ham supper to be held Wednesday June 22. Lunch was served by the hostess and Mrs. Roberta Templeman. Personals Mrs. Vera Hambley is a pa- tient in Seaforth Community Hospital. . Mr. and Mrs. John Templeman were dinner guests of their daughter, Mrs. Joanne Capling, Mississauga Friday evening.
