ON-FARM TRAINING FOR STUDENTS
these is Agricultural Business
Management. This course is
designed to train future
farmers and people for
agri-business.
A great deal of emphasis is
placed on business manage-
ment and on practical ex-
perience. Animal Health
Technology is a technical
course training graduates to
assist verterinarians in their
practices.
Heavy emphasis on
laboratory work and practical
skills results in highly
qualified graduates. Students
interested in responsible
supervisory positions in the
healthcare or hospitality in-
dustries enroll in the Food
Service Management course
offered by Centralia.
Experience iri quantity food
preparation is stressed as
well as supervisory training.
Graduates of the Consumer
and Community Studies pro-
gram find employment with
various social agencies who
need employees with a home
economics and social work
background. All of the
courses emphasize practical
training leading to careers in
Ontario's agriculture and
food related industries.
As well as being involved in
the teaching of full-time
students, the staff at Cen-
tralia are committed to pro-
viding quality continuing
education programs for
farmers and other rural
residents in the area. This in-
cludes short courses, 30 hour
training programs and cer-
tificate programs mainly in
swine and dairy areas.
Research at the College is
mainly in Agronomy. Crops
such as white beans, soy-
beans, coloured beans and
rutabagas are extensively
studied. Such research
becomes part of the overall
research program of the On-
tario Ministry of Agriculture
and Food and makes a
valuable contribution to
agriculture in Ontario.
