Parents wtpo have faced questions such as (hese and others that may be similar will get an opportunity to have their questions answered at a special series of Workshops for Parents of Teens this month at North Lambton Secondary School. The series, sponsored by the Lambton Health Unit, •is similai°to the successful pro- gramme that attracted a hun- dred interested parents in Petrolia last year. Free of charge, the series started February 8. The first discus- sion topic comes to grips with adolescence and is entitled "The Adolescent as a Being". Special speakers will be' featured and parents will be given ample opportunity to ask questions. The other two workshops in the three-part series will deal • t with similar subjects such as problems it the school and in the home and those related to drugs, delinquency and alcohol. According to the organizers, the workshops 'rave been -highly successful in past years. An estimated 86, percent of those who attend- ed last year were parents of teenagers, while the re- mainder were parents of younger children or worked with teens. Panellists are professionals and volunteers. All have had wide experience with coping with the types of problems that confront today's teenagers and their parents. Knowing in advance what to do can often avert serious crises and result in better understanding between all parties concerned.
