Bible official speaks
at Elimville church

Secretary Western Ontario
District Canadian Bible
Society was the guest
minister. He choose as his
sermon "The book of
Peace."
His message informed us
how many Bibles are being
distributed and that many,
many more are needed to fill
the needs of people. The Bi-
ble is still being translated
into many languages to fill
the needs of many groups.
Sunday evening a 30 voice
choir from Emmanuel
Church, Woodstock enter-
tained at the Thames Road
Church. A number from the
community attended this
very entertaining evening.
WI meets
The Elimville Women's
Institute recently held a
meeting at the hall. The
president, Mrs. Floyd
Cooper opened the meeting
with the Opening Ode and
the Mary Stewart Collect.
The roll call was answered
by "A problem facing our
youth today."
The meeting was turned
over to the program con-
veners Mrs. Thomas Hern
and Mrs. Ivan Brock. Mrs.
Brock read a poem and Mrs.
Hern commented on the
motto "You have heard, you
have read, you have done!
but what have you done? and
also read an article by
Elaine Townsend.
Mrs. Hern introduced Mrs.
F. H. Walters the president
of War Memorial Children's
Hospital Auxiliary. They
showed and commented on
the many items which are
used and needed at the
hospital each day and also
some items which are used
on special occasions.
It was mentioned any kind
of aid is always r ppreciated.
Finger puppets are used
every day and are quite easy
to knit from scraps of yarn.

Sunday and were guests
later with Mr and Mrs
Clarence Thomson. Mrs.
Mary Thomson, Exeter was
also a guest for dinner
Mr and Mrs Robert Bray
returned home from their
honeymoon last week. We
welcome Mrs Bray (Kathy)
to our community.
Several people from this
community attended Open
House in Mitchell Sunday at
the home of Mr and Mrs.
Bruce Sawyer for Mr. Cliff
Allen's daughter Ann Marie
commissioning for the
United Church Ministry

speaker at the regular
church service. Sunday.
Sunday evening a 40 voice
choir from Emmanuel
Church. Woodstock put on a
wonderful program with .Jim
Van Trigt as the conductor.
There was a trumpet solo,
and a vocal solo along with
the choir numbers.
Miss Agnes Bray played
the piano for the audience to
sing between the choir
numbers. Pastor Ross
Hargreaves welcomed the
choir. led in the sing -song
and pronounced the Benedic-
tion
Wednesday evening a
music recital by the pupils of
Miss Agness Bray will take
place in the church on
Wednesday May 27 at 7:30 .
Monday June 11 the United
Church Women will hold
their meeting at 8 p.m. Mrs.
Taylor of HenSall will be the
guest speaker.
Some members are busy at
these at this time. Anyone
wishing instructions please
contact Mrs. Murray
Coward or Mrs. Floyd
Cooper. Mrs. Brock thanked
the speaker and presented
her with a gift.
The hospital report was
given by Mrs. Delmar
Skinner and the officer's
conference report was given
by Mrs. Marjorie Dykeman.
Delegates to the district
annual at Seaforth, Thurs-
day were Mrs. Marjorie
Dykeman, Mrs. Murray
Coward, Mrs. Ron Fletcher
and Mrs. Floyd Cooper.
The members were
reminded of the Grand Bend
Women's Institute picnic
Thursday, June 18 at 12:30.
The next meeting will be
June 10 at 8:00 p.m. The
Tweedsmuir History com-
mittee will be in charge. The
roll call will be "An old
newspapers clipping or
historical souvenir " An arm
chair travelogue will be
presented.
