Times-Advocate, 1981-05-13, Page 28Times -Advocate, May 13, 1981 Page 4A Car collides with tree Six London teenagers dead Lucan OPP Constable Jini Craig is continuing his in- vestigation into Thursday's tragic accident which has claimed the lives of six London teenagers Only one youth has sur- vived the crash and he is listed in improved condition in St. Joseph's Hospital The lone survivor of the seven youths is Thomas Ross Appleton, 17. of 168 Linwood St. Jim Reid. 16. of 31 Mathers St. died Monday morning in University Hospital from injuries sustained in the crash. which occurred on concession 8 of London Township. .•1 1978 Ford PLANT TREES The Boy Scout Movement of Lucan appreciated the support of the members of the community in their recent fund raising event - "Trees for Canada" and also the rummage table at the Flea Market and Craft Show. Mrs. Annie Langford sustained minor injuries and all three of the cattle were killed. P.C. Craig estimated damage to the vehicle at $3,000 and valued the cattle at $3,000 also. Thompson sustained minor injuries and PC Marshall estimated damage at 83,500. Again on May 6 at 5:30 p.m. a vehicle driven by Wanda Rooke; 28 Victoria St., Mitchell collided with a vehicle driven by Dorothy Sample of RR 3 Ilderton on Highway 4 at concession 8, London Township. P.C. Wilson listed damages at 81,400.00 The fourth accident of the day occurred at 10:10 p.m. on concession 6, Biddulph Township when a nor- thbound vehicle operated by Theresa Grimminck of RR 3 Lucan left the roadway and rolled over. P.C. Marshall estimated damages at $1,500. On Thursday at 3:00 a.m. a vehicle driven by James Ballantyne was northbound on County Road 20 and slid off the roadway when it turned right onto concession 6. P.C. Flemming listed damages at 8600. On Friday at 8:10 a.m. a vehicle driven by Joanne Hodgins, of 216 George St., Lucan was in collision with a vehicle driven by Bradley DeGraw of concession 4, RR 1 Lucan on the Ilderton Sideroad in London Town- ship. P.C. Vance estimated damages at 82,000. Later that day at 2:45 p.m. a southbound motorcycle on Highway 4 driven by Alvin King of 21 Elgin St., St. Thomas slid on gravel in the intersection of concession 8. London Township and fell over. There was no'damage but the driver sustained minor injury. P.C. Chapman investigated. On Scturday, May 9 at 2:30 a.m. a vehicle driven by Keith Barrington of 31 Simcoe St., Exeter, was northbound on highway 4 south of Clandeboye when it left the roadway and struck the west ditch bank. T•A photo Seniorsplan outing The president of the Sunshine Club Mildred Hirtzel, welcomed the members at the meeting on Thursday afternoon and the group sang "0 Canada" accompanied on the piano by Muriel Cobleigh. A donation was voted to the Royal Canadian Legion for the use of their hall for the dessert euchre, and members were asked to save their IGA tapes for the club. The Lucan and District Lions Club is contributing the cost of the bus to Mon- trose, Michigan, on May 26, and the plays to be presented at the Huron Country Playhouse were read from a brochure with members deciding tomorrow, Thur- sday, if they wish to attend and which play they would like to see. Birthday greetings were extended to Herb Broom, Kathleen Neil, Ethel Lewis and Vina Emery.
