District president attends

KIPPEN
Kippen East Women's
Institute were honoured to
have the president of South
Huron District Mrs. Carl
Payne at their annual
meeting April 15 at the home
of Mrs. Charles Eyre in
Egmondville.
The meeting commenced
with a pot luck dinner with
lots of luck in the pot. Secret
pals were unmasked and
new secret pals given.
A moments silence and a
poem by Mrs. Grant
MacLean were observed in
memory of a member Mrs.
Mary Connolly. The life
members who habitually
present their fees as a gift
decided to send their gift to
the Children of Africa.
Roll call. "Where did you
go on your fifst date?" prov-
ed very interesting. Mrs. Al
Hoggarth gave the report of
the spring board meeting.
Mrs. Drummond, president,
who conducted the meeting
gave a poem on
"Housecleaning".
Annual reports were
given. Treasurer by Mrs.
Grant MacLean, Auditors by
Mrs. Charles Eyre.
Agriculture and Canadian
Industries by Mrs. Campbell

quilting sessions.

and Verda Sinclair will work
in the kitchen at Huronview
on the occasion of their
Daffodil Tea. An invitation
to a picnic at Grand Bend
was accepted.
The executve will meet
April 27 at the president's
home to prepare programs.
Current events and courtesy
remarks were given by Mrs.
Al Hoggarth. Meeting closed
with the anthem.
U.C.W. meets
Kippen U.C.W. had as
their guests - ladies from
Hensall United.Chiselhurst,
Varna, Brucefield. Goshen,
Egmondville and Bayfield
when they held their
Thankoffering meeting April
14 in St. Andrews Church,
Kippen.
Mrs. Ross Broadfoot
played organ music in-
troductory. President Mrs.
Robert Kinsman welcomed
the guests. Mrs. McMullen
conducted the devotional
which began with a skit
showing the throwing of
stones. Each lady was gives
a stone to take home in
memory of the various times
stones were mentioned in
the scriptures.
They are reminiscent of
the rocks in the garden of
Gethsemone, the gardens of
Eden and the gardens men-
tioned the the Bible. Mrs.
Edison McLean gave a
poem. Offering was taken by
.Mrs. E. Kyle and Mrs. N
Dickert was hostess for the
evening.
Mrs. D. Cooper introduced
the special music for the
evening. Bob Heywood
favoured with accordion
music and songs.
Mrs. Keith Lovell in-
troduced the guest speaker,:
Mrs. Klungel of Hensall who
spoke on the mentally han-
dicapped from her work
among them and her per-
sonal grief.
A poem. "All I need Is
love" was a fitting conclu-
sion to her address. Mrs.
Klungel was thanked by
Mrs. Keith Love, Bob
Heywood was thanked for
his inspiring music. Grace
was sung and a delicious
lunch was served.

Mr. and Mrs. Dean Gib-
son. Lucan, were recent
guests with Mrs. W. L.
Mellis.
Mr. and Mrs. Gary Cooper
and family. London visited
with Mr. and Mrs. Vivan
Cooper.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex
McGregor have returned
from their winter holiday in
Florida.
Morley Cooper is a patient
in South Huron Hospital, Ex-
eter.
