IRVIN RADER DASHWOOD Several officials of Zion Lutheran congregation attended the service in Calvary United church Sunday, March 8. The president, Ron Merner returned the keys to Miss Barbara Laing thanking her for the use of the church and hoped the close relationship which was formed would continue. Calvary United church Several ladies of Calvary United church attended Lenten services in Zurich Wednesday morning, and World Dayof Prayer service in Grandend Friday. They will be hosting the birthday party at the Blue Water Rest Home March 10. Family reunion Members of the Frieda Keller family came from Windsor, Hensall, London Goderich and Dashwood to attend the first Sunday morning service at the new Zion Lutheran church. These were joined by more at the home of Marlene and Roland Gibson, Denfield, for a family dinner and surprise birthday for mother. Frieda thanks all who helped, sent cards, best wishes, flowers and gifts and Pastor Mellecke for her favourite hymns. Dashwood W.I. Dashwood Women's Institute met at the com- munity centre for a business meeting. The president, Mrs. Eben Weigand presided. Roll call was answered by telling a thing that used to be. Members were reminded of the annual meeting in April when reports must be given. Gifts for secret pals FIRST SERVICE IN NEW CHURCH — The first regular service in the new Dashwood Zion Lutheran Church was held Sunday morning. Shown in front of the altar are building chair- man Howard Datars, pastor Rev. Mayo Mellecke and Church elder Ron Merner. An Open House will be held Sunday March 22 from 3 to 5 p.m. The entire community is invited. Hear from Laotians Sunday night. March 1, 45 Laotian refugees met at Ex- eter Pentecostal Tabernacle to share in the evening ser- vice. Pastor Keith Gonyou preached a sermon entitled "Lost or Found" and Rev. Carl Young interpreted the message into the Thai language. Laotionas unders- tand the Thai language and are conversant in it.. Rev. Young is a missionary on Furlow from Thailand. He is working with World Vision of Canada. Some of the Laotian children performed their national dance for the con- gregation. This was very enjoyable and informative. The refugee families from Goderich. Clinton. Vanastra and Exeter. along with some o[ their sponsors were in- vited following the service to share in coffee and lunch before going home. "As a Church". Paster Gonyou reports. our families from Laos have taught us much about our responsibili- ty as Christians to love our fellow man. As a community we are privileged and bless- ed to be able to help those less fortunate than we are. The fifth meeting of Dash- wood club two was held with the president, Cathy Schade presiding. Roll call was "Tell what you have com- pleted on your garment". The leaders discussed hemming and waist band application. All members are to complete their hem sample for the next meeting. Personals Dashwood seniors will meet Monday, March 16. Mr. & Mrs. Paul Rader, Ben and Robin, London, spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Rader. Jeff Hayter, Toronto, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hayter and family. Mrs. Hilda Rader ac- companied Mr. and Mrs. Ray Rader, Brenda and Carol to London, Sunday where they attended con- firmation rites for Susan Rader, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Rader at St. James Westminster Anglican church. They were guests with the Earl Rader family. Don't forget the euchre Tuesday, March 17. Pearl Miller, Mildred Kellerman, Beulah Desjardine, Hilda Rader, Emma Schilbe and Margaret Pfaff surprised Frieda Keller with a pot luck dinner last week prior to her birthday and spent the af- ternoon.
