director of Education and
secretary -treasurer, John A.
Gummow, will retire on June

school year. His resignation
was accepted with regret at
the Board's meeting this
week.
Gummow, a native of West
Monkton in Perth County,

January 1969 when the
County Board of Education

Prior to that time, he was a
secondary school teacher,
principal, and supervisory
officer in North York, Don
Mills, Port Dover, and
Mississauga. A graduate of
Stratford Normal School, the
Ontario College of
Education, the University of
Western Ontario and the
University of Toronto, he

stees, school principals,

and other employee groups
in helping the Board to
develop and maintain the
programs and services that
chat'acterize the County's
