Heart fund The campaign for the funds for the Ontario Heart Foundation in Hensall and area is progressing favorably. Ladies' auxiliary The Hensall Legion Ladies' Auxiliary met on Monday evening with the vice-president Mrs. Alice Neilands presiding in the absence of the president Mrs. Beatrice Uyl. Items of business were discussed and several weddings will be catered to in the future. Mrs. Iva Reid reported for the sports committee. A social hour was enjoyed and refreshments served. Personals Mr. & Mrs. Robert Chaffe and Sally, of Mitchell, were recent visitors with Mrs. Chaffe's parents Mr. & Mrs. Jack Corbett. Mr. Peter McNaughton has been a patient in South Huron Hospital , Exeter for the past few weeks. Mrs.Ruby Bell returned home after holidaying with Mr. & Mrs. Gilbert Johns in Haines City, Florida. Canvass for March of Dimes Times -Advocate, February 18, 1981 Page 7A Hensall Church women pay five cents for pillows Unit 11 meets Ten members and one visitor attended the UCW meeting for Unit II on February 9. Before the meeting, the ladies can- vassed Hensall for the March of Dimes. Jean Hull welcomed everyone to the meeting with a poem. Following the singing of a hymn the roll call was answered by "What the weather waalike on your wedding day". The special collection was taken. This month members paid five cents for every pillow they had in their house. Deanna Brock chose as her topic, on the New Family in the Church, the one parent family which is .on the increase. Love was the theme chosen by Elva Forrest for the devotion based on the Scripture. Love is a gift of God. Love is free: Love has more power than any drug. Lots of love is needed. Elva led in prayer and closed with a hymn. The offering was received and dedicated. Jean Hull read the legend of Valen- tines. Joyce Pepper and Mona Alderdice conducted the business. The World Day of Prayer will be held March 6 at 2:30 p.m. in Hensall United Church with the Chiselhurst UCW as hostesses. The March meeting will be held at the Manse as guests of Rev. McDonald. The March general meeting will be held on March 2 with Unit II providing the program. Mrs. Grace Pym of Elimville will be guest speaker. Volunteers were asked to help with lunch for the Scouts, Beavers, Cubs, Explorers, Girl Guides an•l Brownies after the church service on Feb. 22. Jean conducted a contest and closed with a reading. A delicious lunch was prepared by Hazel Corbett and Ann Brock and served by Hazel and Joyce Pepper. Unit 1 meets Kay Elder presided for the Unit I of the UCW on Feb. 12. After her opening poem, they sang and Kay read some scriptures. Her devotional theme was "Down in the Dumps". She illustrated that the sea of life is equal to the burdens of the day. We may get depressed by actions of our children, so we need rest and sleep to renew our strength, just as Jesus took time to relax and rest . Our spirits are lifted by our hope in God. Kay led in prayer and "Come Let us sing of a Wonderful Love" with Belva Fuss accompanying at the piano. The roll call and RAICIIIIP IF minutes followed another poem by Kay. Audrey' Christie gave the study using the very in- teresting story by Rev. Michael Chandoo, his wife and children from a Presbyterian Church in Grenada on an enchange ministry for one year. Rev. Gerald Hutchinson of Alberta was asked to spend the year in Grenada St. George's church. It outlined each minister and church and contributed to both congregations to the mutuality in mission programme. They also discussed the aparthied government of South Africa and how the native people of that country are being so ill treated in so many ways by whites. Also how some of our banks are sending massive loans to help maintain this aparthied government. Audrey Joynt gave a report on the adopted girl, Ning Klan Man of Burma. The report of the Presbyterial held at Brucefield on Jan. 26 was given by Audrey Christie. She also outlined the following business: general meeting of UCW Mar. 2 at 8 p.m.; the ladies of Unit I will meet at 7:30 p.m. for business; Unit I will have the lunch for this meeting, and are having a guest speaker; March 6 at 2:30 p.m. World Day of Prayer Chiselhurst ladies will host this meeting in Hensel] United church, Rev. Stan McDonald theme speaker. Unit I is responsible for the flowers in the Church in March. The annual Beef Barbeque will be held April 22; tickets to be available soon. Annual UCW Conference April 6 and 7 Gordon Hunter speaker; Westminster weekend, May 26 and30 subject"Adultery to Faith"; Alma College August 16-19 subject "Our gifts that money cannot buy." Hensall United church Lorne Thrower again conducted the service in Hensall United Church on Sunday and took as his message "I Don't Know What to do". Much of life consists of problem solving and decision making. Often there is a warning before trouble, so awareness should be followed by worship and prayer. This builds up serenity, confidence and peace, for our battles are God's battles. The children circled the pulpit and were. shown a variety of cutting utensils. They were instructed to watch against a cutting tongue. They then, with the help of the choir, sang, beating time with percussion instruments. The choir, led by the director and organist Dr. Ralph Topp, sang an hymn and the Benediction at the end of the service.
