Profitable project
"A profitable project for
frosty February afternoons
is to organize the storage
space around your home,"
say home .economists with
the Ontario Ministry of
Agriculture and Food. But
where do you begin?
Start by thinking about
where you are going to store
an item before you buy it. If
it is too late for that, create a
storage wall in each room of
your house. Built-in shelves
and cupboards are great, but
inexpensive shelving can be
made from planks of wood
supported on rows of bricks.
In children's rooms, most
items can be stored on ad-
justable, open shelves. The
numerous small things that
you are likely to trip over
can be kept in handy con -

Teacher Interview
Mr. Brand is a teacher at
our school. He started
teaching in 1965 in a one -
room school, number 10
Stanley. He then taught at
number 4, Tuckersmith,
grades 5-6. Then he went to
Huron Centennial and finally
to Stephen. Some of his in-
terests are horseback,
broomball, soccer, and he is
the chairman at the Arabian
Horse Club in the London
Region in charge of planning
horse shows. He is also a
youth leader at Bethal
Reformed Church. - Janice
Schade.
Student Teacher
On Monday Feb. 2, a stu-
dent teacher arrived at our
school. His name is Mr.

Mrs. Skillender in her class.
By watching and teaching to
further his education, he
hopes to become a teacher. -

tainers such as plastic trays,

plastic bowls, A tidy -up box
or drawer will encourage
children to do this therh-
selves. In the bathroom,
gather all toys into a plastic
play pail, or a net drawstring
bag.
Improve your kitchen
storage by using shallow
boxes or cardboard dividers
in drawers that hold a
variety of items. A peg board
on the back of a closet or
cupboard could hold a
number of small articles.
Step -shelves in cupboards
are a great help, especially
for dishes.
As small living units such
as apartments and
townhouses become more
popular, proper organization
is a must. Here, multipur-
pose furniture is preferred.
A storage chest or trunk can
double for a coffee table, and
a small chest of drawers can
serve as an end table.
Once you hay organized
your space, be sure to put
things back where they
belong. Remember the old.
saying, "a place for
everything and everything in
its place."
