On Thursday. January 171 h. the
Woman's Institute held a uteuqin;
in the Opera House. This i3 held an
nually in connection with the Far-
mers' Instituto meet iue. After
opening with "Tlw Maple Leaf For-
ever" the President made a felt
opening remarks on Instituto work,
showing the broe.d field of work
that the society with its 10500 anetu-
bers :are doing for liome and coun-
try. Tho speaker of the afternoon
was Mis3 Fear, an honor graduate
and ;old uncdalist in Dornestia
Science at Whitby college, Mias
Fear gave on excellent address which
was highly appreciated by all. Hor
subject was "8ewine and the In-
valid's Tray". In the first part she
endeavored to show the proper ane-
thod of furnishing the dining [roam
and tables for sewing ; also the
way the formal and informal dinners
should bo her red. Secondly, the In-
valid's tray should be :served as
daintily as possible with snow.

She also ,gavo a few suggestions for
dainty dishes for :the Invalid. The
programme was enlivened with solos
given by Misses Beer, Snell and 'Tay-
lor. Miss Etta McPherson save a

After a vote of thanks the meeting
came to a close by singing God Save
the Kole.
