There died at the home of her n eine,
Mrs. Fulton, Mitnico, on Friday, Jay
240, an old resident of Blyth, in the
person of Emily, relict of the late
Thomas jonea, Deceased was born in
England about sixty years ago and
canae to Blyth with her husband in the
year 1884. The late Mrs. Jones was of
an amiable disposition and had a large
circle of friends here and at other
points where she has resided during
the past few years. Her husband pre-
dneaseci her fct.r years, since which
time she has made her home with her
only daughter, Mrs. W. J. Fylo, of
London and her neiee at Mimic°. The
esteem in which the late Mrs, Jones
was held was fully attested by the
large number of floral tributes from
friends in Mirnico, London and Blyth.
The remains were brought here and
interment was made in the family plot
in the Union cemetery,

Fred Cox has passed the examina-
tion and has been accepted as a fireman
on the G.T.R. He expects to run out
of Windsor.
Congratulations are extended to Miss
Gladys McQuarrie on her success in at-
taining her 2nd class Teachers' Certifi-
cate this summer. She will probably
attend either the Model or Normal
School this Fall,
Will Hoover, 9th con., was in the list
of candidates who wrote at Brussels on
the Normal Entrance and were success.

The Army worm has made its appear-
ance in Grey Township but not in large
numbers. Just East of Silver Corners
ip Elma township they have d,one con-
siderable damage on the farms of Mr,
Fisherand and Mr. Hearst. -
Mrs. John A. Robertson and daugh-
ter, Mss Mary, of Oil Springs, are
here on an extended visit with the form-
er's sistet, Mrs. Jas. Pearson, sr., on
4th con. Mrs. Robertsonlas not been
here for a number of years, and many
old friends extend a cordial welcome,

Dr. W. R. Roe, who was visiting at
the parental home, 3rd line, has return-
ed to his practice in Philadelphia. His
mother's health is somewhat improved.
Mrs. Henry and daughter, Mrs.
Morris, are here on a holiday at the
home of John and Mrs. Roe, old resi-
dents of the 3rd line.
Mrs. Geo. B. Turvey, of the 2nd line,
underwent an operation in the Wing -
ham General Hospital. Her many
friends wish her a speedy recovery.
The Trustees of S. S. No. 5 are hav-

Milton Hooper, late of the 3rd line,
who is now at Duber, Man., reports a
very dry season. He already has 80
acres broken on his new half section.
Motors are the fad now adays. The/
are filled to the limit. But, take the
good old wagon out, alas, they are not

Norman Geddes has been re-engaged
in the Londesboro' school, where he
taught last year, at an increase of $0
in his salary.
C. McLelland has improved the ap-
pearance of his store and home by giv-
ing it a coat of paint, also papering
don-4in the interior of the store.
John T. Bell has installed a new tile
machine in his machine shop and wi'l
manufacture cement tile. Leave your

While James Cunningham was en-
gaged at his son's farm picking cher-
ries he fell and broke several ribs, also
received a bad shaking up, the extent
of which is not known at time of going
to press.
Rev. W. 1. McLean, of Hanover, oc-
cupied the pulpit of Knox church the
past few Sabbaths which was much
appreciated by the congregation. The
reverend gentleman's father being the
late Dr. McLean, formerly of Blyth„
who was the esteemed pastor of Bel -
grave for 11 years in the early days of
the congregation.

needed briskness apparent at the yards frk
this Morning, and the turnover in cattle 14
was considerable, on occasions at a
slight increase in quotations, but taken
all over the feeling was toward a gener-

section.
The business in the small section con-
tiqued steady on a small offering of in
sheep and lambs. Calves of the better
sorts made up a little of the ground lost
during recent markets, but the improve- !$\
ment was so slight that any alterations fe

on a sluggish demand, and the drop all
round was 15 to 20 cents, the fed and
watered returnbeing $9.15
