Coffee break at Queenway raises dollars for Alzheimer
Lakeshore Advance
Queensway was pleased to recently hold
a successful "Coffee Break" for the Alzhe-
imer Society of Huron County, raising
$100.00 for the cause at their regular Muf-
fin fundraiser held in Queensway's Cafe.
Musicians John & Geneva Ileaman
played to a full house at the September
Birthday Party. Residents and their guests
were treated to John & Geneva's usual
amazing repertoire of songs accompanied
by their guitars but in addition John treated
everyone to a number of favourites on the
piano. 'Ihe evening program ended all too
soon for many. We've booked the popular
duo for two dates in 2014 to ensure they're
available.
Geri Fashions was onsite Wednesday
October 2nd with all the new Fall styles and
colours on display. Residents, staff & com-
munity were welcome to shop from 11 a.m.
to 3 p.m. While the shopping was happen-
ing in the Activation Roost those ready for
a snack and entertainment were treated to
the music of Randy Grey from St. 'Thomas.
Ile sang numerous Frank Sinatra & Dean
Martin numbers as well, the Everley Broth-
ers and many more. It was Randy's first
time with us but certainly not his last.
Thursday evening l larvey & Bruce per-
forated for residents in the Sunroont. it's
nice to have music in the sunroom where
many residents can join us for the music
an(1 others in their roosts and the hallways
also hear.
Along with our special events Residents
have been benefiting from the usual
scheduled programs such as Fun & Fitness,
Music 'therapy, Massage 'therapy, Games,
Breakfast group, Baking, Library program
& Sensory prorams.
Queensway s Retirement I torte recently
hosted a "Bring a Friend" to supper event.
Good friends, conversations & a wonderful
meal were enjoyed by all. On September
27th grade 5 & (i students of I lensall Public
School came to the home to engage with
residents in a Senior Buddy Program. Sto-
ries were shared during a get to know you
activity and everybody had fun decorating
cupcakes. 'Ih(' Retirement !tome residents
are looking forward to having the students
visit monthly. Niaik your Calendars for an
Open !louse at the Retirement I torte when
we host a Stop n Shop on November 30th
from 10 :l p.m. Various Vendors will he set
up throughout the horse including Scentsy,
Avon, Aloette, Epicure, Usborne books,
Tupperware and various baking and craft
tables. Santa will also be snaking a visit
from 10 - 11 a.m. If you are interested in
setting up a table please call Julie, Retire-
