Last week the Grand Bend Harbour received
$17,100.00 in funding for hnprovetnents through
.the small craft harbours program.
Bev Shipley MP for lAunbton-Kent -Middlesex
announced the funding while he toured River
Road last week. He told those in attendance that
90 percent of the fishing in Canada comes from
small fishing harbours and was pleased to be
able to chat with Purdy's owner Stephanie
Purdy.
"The Harper government Is committed to
ensuring a bright future for Canada's commercial
fisheries; Shipley said. "Our investment in the
harbour in Grand Bend will keep them safe and
accessible for those who depend on them to earn
a living and support their families."
Work planned for the Grand Bend harbour
include the continuation of dredging.
'Ibis funding is annual and repair and improve-
ment projects are undertaken at harbours across
the country by Fisheries and Oceans Canada as
part of the Small Craft Harbours program, in
cooperation with the local harbour authorities
that manage and operate facilites for local users.
Close cooperation bwtween the Department and
harbour authorities allows the federal govern-
ment to continue to provide an operable system
of harbours and facilites throughout Canada in
support of commercial fish harvesters.

minutes. Interior compartment temperatures can
rise to dangerous levels even on mild days. Always
consider the safety of a child. Do not jeopardize
the safety of a child for your pure convenience.
