performances in parks across Ontario have become camper

tival Singers. A limited number of tickets nuty even be avail-
able at the door. Adults pay $25.00 and children under 12
only $12.00 for dinner and entertainment.
The Blyth Festival Singers is a non -auditioned community
choir under the professional direction of Robert Blackwell.
Averaging between 40-50 singers, the choir began in 1980,
under the umbrella of the Blyth Centre for the Arts. Since
then the Singers have performed in Huron County and
beyond, striving to present a high standard of choral singing.

Blyth Festival Singers Canadian Connections Concert to feature David Archibald

The Blyth Festival Singers have sung
their way round the world this year and
are returning home in their latest per-
formance. 'lhe Singers' popular dinner
cabaret and silent auction is back at the
Varna Complex as they explore their
"Canadian Connections" on Saturday,
June 1. Doors open at 6:00 pm with an
open bar and a chance to get your auc-
tion bids in early. Our legendary supper
is served by (i:30 followed by music, fun
and merriment in our lively cabaret
concert, ably emceed by veteran Dun-
can McGregor.
All the music will be Canadian and
what a wonderful line-up of music we
have in store for you- everything from
traditional ballads to rollicking and
humorous songs from Ontario and
((Cross the country.
The Singers swell with Canadian
pride as we welcome David Archibald
to our lineup. David is a singer, song-
writer, music producer and playwright
we are proud to include as our guest
performer this year. And as you will see,
he is also a lot of fun!
Little known fact: David produced
the very first recording of pop star Avril
Lavigne. 1 lis pop music recordings on
the RCA label are just one aspect of
David's versatile repertoire. 1 k' has also
written a full length multi -media astro-
nomical symphonic piece entitled
"Symphonia Galactica" for the Kingston
Symphony, and was commissioned to
write and perforin "Schubert: 'Ihe Man
and l lis Music" for the Genessee Sym-
phony Orchestra in New York. David's
music is regularly featured on CBC
radio programmes such as The Vinyl
Cafe, Morningside, (Fresh Air, Ontario
Morning, and Radio Noon. An avid
composer and children's performer, he
has also performed on (:11C television
and Sesame Street.

where David had been musical director
and composer for the Young Company
for several years.
Closer to home, he recently com-
pleted one of his award winning song -
writing workshops with students from
Clinton Public School. And now David
is hack for a second year of "Dear
Johnny Deere" on the Blyth Festival
stage.
