Parasailing
Be ready for a fun summer
with Lee Mnrcoux and his par-
asailing on Lake I luron.
A lifetime of boating experi-
ence, this 43 year old moved to
(rand fiend from Grand Caymans
\\itlt his wife Karen and daughter las-
min. As well as (;rand (tend Parasailing he is a
fiunilia r face as bar manager at Paddington's Pub.
fere was a 101 of red tape to go through in the
it almost two years to get this business off the
ground- but now with all the insurance and a com-
mercial captains license under his belt, the Para
sailing venture
is clear flying.
Parasailing is described as is a recreational kit-
ing activity where a person Is towed behind a vehi-
cle (usually a boat) while attached to a specially
designed canopy wing that reminds one of a para-
chute known as a parasail wing. The harness
attaches the pilot to the parasail, which is con-
nected to the boat by the towrope. The vehicle
then drives off, carrying the parascender (or wing)
and person into the air. If the boat is powerful
enough, two or three people can parasail behind it
at the same thew. 'the parascender has little or no
1, -
control over the parachute. '1he activity
is primarily a fun ride, not to he con-
fused with the sport of
paraglidheg.
Marcoux shopped around and
bought what he says is the per-
fect boat that starts this Tong
weekend. 'There Is no use limit -
hut you must be with an adult if
you are under 16 as waivers
must he signed. You will launch and
land from the back of the boat that Marcoux
will captain. I le also has a Banana boat that looks
like a lot of fun for a group of people,
Of both summer spurts he says, "You just put un
a life jacket, and relax," he says, "And let nus do the
rest:' Ile says an added feature that will he in place
later this summer is photos while parasailing, In
explanation he says a group have asked to have
their Christmas card photos taken while they are
parasailing clad in Santa suits. Marcoux also says
to watch for local coupons on the back of his tick-
ets, To get on board, the Parasailing kiosk is behind
Dairy Queen and there is a directional sign to get
you there. You pay and there is a safety video to
watch before venturing to the river stairs where
there is also a big yellow and black banner to direct
you.
Gift certificates are available or check out Grand
Bend parasailing for birthdays or other special
