Multi -rental
unit fire safety
inspections to
begin this month

In an "information only" report to
launbton Shores council last week the clerk
detailed a program for fire safety in regards
to transient accommodations.
At the Council meeting held February
19, representatives from the Office of the
Fire Marshall attended a council meeting,
and provided confirmation on the powers
of an inspector to inspect a premise for the
purposes of assessing fire safety. As stated
In Section 19.1, a Fire Chief is an inspector
for the puriwses of the Act.
On May 1, the Grand fiend Fire Chief,
North Aren lay -law Officer, Chief Building
Inspector and Lambton Shores clerk
Carol McKenzie met to inview the informa-
tion from the Mr' Marshall's Office, and In
a report to council she said the resulting
recommendation was that a program he
established whereby accommodations for
transient occupants are inspected for the
purposes of assessing fire safety.
"Correspondence would be sent to the
property owners, outlining the request to
inspect the premises, as permitted under
the "Fire Protection and Prevention Act
and requesting a mutually agreeable time
for the inspection. The actual inspection
would he undertaken by the Grand Bend
