Local golfer, Drake Jefferson, 14, of
the Bluewater Golf Course in Bayfield,
is a member of the Canadian Junior
Golfing Association. In early May Drake
played in a two day tournament at the
Royal Woodbine Golf Course in
'loronto.
'Ihe tournament for the Boys 14 and
tinder division proved to be a tight race,
as just 3 strokes separated the first place
finisher and third. Drake Jefferson of
Bayfield, Ont., managed to keep a clean
scorecard on the final day, opening his
round one under par on the front nine.
On the hack nine, shooting five over par
for a round total of 75, Jefferson took
dome his first (:IGA title of the year. "It
feels good to win," said the Bayfield
native. "I played well coming into the
event, and 1 knew if 1 kept the ball in
play 1 would have a good chance of win-
ning the tournament." Jefferson shot a
two-day total of 152 (+10) to win by one
shot over Thornhill, ()nt.'s Jason Chung.
Chung shot a final round of 73, which
was the low round of the day for the
field. Chung's two-day total of 153 (+11)
earned him his first CJGA trophy of the
year. In a tie for third was Oakville, Ont.'s
Damon Crane and Thornhill, Ont.'s
Nathan Douglas, both shooting a two-
day total of 155 (+13). "

Finally the weather has improved and
48 golfers were able to walk the course
on opening day at the Oakwood Inn
Resort Men's Golf League on Thursday
