received the official notice that the

I.EED' Silver standard and has received
the LIED' Gold certification.
"I think it's fantastic for Lambton
Shores and the residents of 'Medford
and area in particular. What a tribute to
the Design Committee, the fundraising
Committee and to the previous Council
who together made this dream a reality.
First a LEE:D Gold designation and now
a Park and Recreation Ontario "Award
of Excellence", it doesn't get much Net-
ter than that, but the real benefit is that
it brought the whole Lambton Shores
community together and did some-
thing that as its name says will leave a
"Legacy" for the next generation too. I
am very proud to have played a small
role in making this happen," said former
(:AO John Byrne. Peggy VanMierlo-
West, Former Director of Community
Services said, "'Ihe Legacy Centre is a
beautiful facility and this award is the
topping to a lot of hard work by every-
one who was involved. Without the
Community this project would have
never come to fruition and it is their
tenacity and vision which this award
truly envelopes."
This award of excellence in design
award went to only five communities.
Included with Lampton Shores were
East Humber Trail of Richmond 11111,
Ojibway Nature (:entre in Windsor,
Queen Elizabeth Park and Community
Centre in Oakville and Regent Park
Aquatic Centre in Toronto.
