"Lambton Shores is so impressed to
have this kind of business in Grand
Bend," said mayor Bill Weber at the
opening of the newest retail section of
Westland Greenhouses, south of Grand
Bend.
Ile added that the climate here is
good for greenhouses, and that is a huge
plus.
Paul and Anita VanAdrichem came to
Grand Bend from Holland with their
four young children in 2000, knowing
there were great opportunities for them
in Canada. Westland Greenhouses
opened its doors in Grand Bend,
Ontario October the 17th, 2000.

children, were horst in the Netherlands,

certified growers.
They chose Southwestern Ontario
because 0f the climate, they ('hose
Grand Bend because they wanted to he
unique to other grow operations such as
those near St. Catherines.
'l'he area of one of the wholesale
greenhouses is now home to beautiful
plants ready for retail. Anita says many
customers conte in to roam the garden
centre taking in the beautiful colours,
no matter what season.
There are so many plants to select
from and even the popular Anthuriums
have some new colours; a purple and
green are new this season. Since West-
land is the only Canadian wholesaler of
thiA plant, it is great that this community
sees it first.
In the garden centre there are more
than 500 varieties of perennials and
more than 300 kinds of shrubs and trees.
Staffer Rebecca Swick says shrubs and
trees are all locally grown so when they
