Wednesday, April 3, 2013 • Lakeshore Advance Celebrating 25 years - Denny's Drive-in Lynda HIIIman-Rapley Lakeshore Advance It has been 25 years since Dennys became a Grand Bend hot spot for locals and tourists. This year owner Valerie Boland is celebrating and wants readers to send in their Denny's stories. Lorraine Cauchi dict just that. "'Iwo summers ago, nny husband and I were in Toronto heading to an appointment downtown. Trying to beat the heavy slow 401 traffics we decided to nip down Islington Ave and head into the city via King St. And yes, we were flying down !sling- bn Ave when out jumps a cop with a radar gun and "bam" got us doing way over the speed limit. We pulled over. My husband pulled out his insurance and ownership etc for the cop. The officer was a young fellow. Ile looked at the documents, noted that we were from Grand Bend, and asked what We were doing in Toronto this particular Friday morning. Valerie Boland takes to the fryer for what was a very busy first weekend. At that point he asked, "Do you know Denny's in Grand Bend?" Ile proceeded to tell us that he had been in Grand Bend the previous weekend and how much he loved the town but in particu- lar how much he loved Denny's. Ile raved about the fries and the old time atmosphere.
