Ile is only five, but Colton Stanlake knows what
a good deed is. 1n his St. John Fisher class he
learned about giving and doing something nice for
others. So, for his recent birthday he decided
instead of presents he wool(' ask for donations for
a good cause.
Colton's mons Elaine and dad Richard said
before sending out party invites they would check
around to see if there was a charity they could con-
tribute to. She asked her friends Allison and Randy
Shaw and was told there were kids who wanted to
play hockey but could not afford the registration.
Randy, who works for Lambton Shores is a volun-
teer with the league. So, it was decided and the
invites went out stating, "We are a truly blessed
family, in lieu of gifts, we will be collecting dona-
tions that will be donated to The Legacy Youth
l Jockey League in Colton's name as part of his
birthday celebration. " Elaine explains that the
Legacy Youth Hockey league is an in-house
hockey league at the Legacy Center in 'Medford. It
was started by Randy Shaw and provides an afford-
able hockey league that all can enjoy. It is ran non-
profit, if there is a child who is in need of assist-
ance either to obtain gear, and/or with the

young kids would love. "llotwheels,

as she recalled the chaos of the party.
Instead of gifts, the children brought
money, to the tune of $270.00. Because
Colton is so young they decided to buy
two hockey sticks so he could actually
see something "real" from the money.
