The elm of World Religion Day, held on the third Sunday in January every year, Is to promote inter -faith
understanding and harmony. Through a variety of events held around the globe, followers of every religion are
encouraged to acknowledge the similarities that different faiths have. Theme for Grand Bend'$ 2013 program
at the Grand Bend Legion was 'Sharing what we have with others." Sunday was an afternoon of music and
prayers to foster unity.
The master of ceremonies was Rev. Grayhame Bowcott.
The Grand Bend children's choir lighted the Unity candle. Readers included Rev. Harry Disher, Rev.
Deacon Andrew Wilson, Bob Andrighettl, Hadil Askar, Vince Bury, Roberta Walker, Gordon Britton and Frances
Vink. Those in attendance had the opportunity to hear the music of Karim with students from Nancy Campbell
Collegiate Institute, a piece by Frank Loscombe, soloist Rend Phillips, the choir and the music of Karim Rushdy
and Ed Vandendool. The Sunday morning youth group created the 25 -foot banner.
