Lambton Shores Council meeting
CONTINUED FROM > PAGE 9
Council discusses the program
Council member Doug Bonesteel said
they have been doing this in I luron Woods
for years. Kittmer explained to council
there were many items including fridges
and that there would be a limit of deposits
until they have to shut it down. Ile feared
there could be many people waiting in
line who will be turned away. Ile also
explained if they rent the bins the cost will
be $11,000 and if they buy $57,000. Davis-
Dagg said if they bought there used they
would be cheaper. Both council members
Martin Underwood and John Russell sug-
gested instead of this huge cost- the
municipality needs an education
program. It was suggested instead of doing
one drop off—to have the program broken
up for communities. Kittiner said this
would just be doing the same thing with
the sante price tag- but breaking it up into
chunks.
Council member Dave Maguire said the
current system is user pay and if he
wanted to get rid of stuff he would call a
local business, and then offer his neigh-
bours a cost sharing to get rid of their junk.
He said in the name of economic develop-
ment- they needed to promote local busi-
ness. Russell agreed saying they do have
businesses in Lambton Shores who take
large items away.
It was agreed that staff would re -work
this report and bring it back to council.
