Lambton Shores councilor seeks police protection
Hillman-Rapley
Lakeshore Advance
With all the controversy that sur-
rounding Lambton Shores council,
member !mile Scott now wants
police protection for the council
meetings.
The concerns stemmed from the
December l 7th meeting where the
gallery was filled with residents from
the municipality wanting to he
heard. During the question period at
that meeting ratepayers asked for
answers to questions regarding the
firing of CAO John Byrne as well as
other queries they felt were not being
answered. Scott was not at 'T'hurs-
day's budget meeting but sent her
concerns through councilor Doug
flonesteel in a request for this to be
an emergent issue.
llonesteel said for the sake of pub-
lic safety a police officer should be
lin
present. Ile said in the marking lot
after the meeting "it carie close to
blows." None of the council mem-
bers actually saw the disturbance in
the parking lot as they stayed behind
for an in -camera meeting.
