Fundraisers at St. Anne's
This week at St. Anne's was filled with
fundraisers welcoming the holiday season
to the school. Our Advent projects and
coat drive will continue until December
19th. Eagor the Eagle travelled to class-
rooms around the school this week to
meet the students and learn more about
which project each classroom chose to
take on, in keeping with the Advent
theme. Many classes have chosen to col-
lect toys and food for families around
Huron County or winter clothing for fami-
lies in Northern Ontario.
On Monday, December 5th, the girls'
hockey teatn played in Stratford, and the
curling and swimming teams practiced in
Vanastra. On Wednesday the 7th, the sen-
ior boys' basketball team played at South
Huron and the boys' hockey team had a
game at FE Madill. On Thursday, the girls'
hockey team had a game in Clinton, and
Ms. Finlayson's class departed to the
Vanastra pool.
On Tuesday, December 6th, the front
lobby was filled with beautiful displays
created by Semester One Co-op students,
informing peers on what they do on a day
to day basis,,and to encourage other stu-
dents to choose co-op as an option In
their upper years of high school to gain
workplace knowledge and experience.
Also on Tuesday was the Christmas
Celebration of the Arts, where drama,
music, and visual arts students had a
chance to show off their talents. The
evening offered musical performances by
both the concert band and the rock band
at St. Anne's, as well as short plays written
and performed by drama students, and a
visual art display and handmade card
sole.
Thursday, December 8th brought stu-
dents the opportunity to participate in
Advent Reconciliation, where sins could
be forgiven, or students could simply
choose to talk to one of the priests about
something in their lives. Also on Thursday
was African Culture Night, a cultural
exploding soiree that offered a silent auc-
tion featuring beautiful artwork from local
artists and students, performances by Bal-
let Creole, and a traditional African meal.
The night was a great success and funds
will go towards building an agricultural
school in Kenya, to go along with the
school built there just a few years ago that
was funded by the St. Anne's community.
St. Anne's Semi Formal 2011 is fast
approaching and Student Cabinet con-
tinue to prepare for the "Neverland"
themed event, as ticket sales began on
Wednesday, December 7th and will go
until the 14th.
