Lambton Shores,
Bluewater opt for full
build; South Huron

Lakeshore Advance
After four years, the Grand Bend Area
Sewage Plant board (Bluewater, Lambton
Shores and South Huron) is still discussing
what size the proposed sewage treatment
facility should be and that is not sitting well
with at least two councils.
At the board meeting in Crediton on
November 29th, the bottom line for Blue -
water and Lambton Shores council is their
motions for a full treatment plant. As for
South Huron- they guarantee they want a
partial build or nothing.
"We need a treatment plant for the
future," said Bluewater mayor Bill Row-
son while South Huron mayor George
Robertson said, "I guarantee you, we will
not be voting for a full build out -period- we
have all agreed:' Latnbton Shores agreed
to the full build in an 8-1 vote at the
November 21 meeting.
The process, where the three munici-
palities work together through a partner-
ship in a development of a single wastewa-
ter treatment facility to benefit all their
respective communities, began more than
four years ago is now a month away from
decision day. A mutual agreement for the
plant dated July 23rd, 2010 was signed by
the mayor and clerk of that day from Blue -
water, Lambton Shores and South l iuron
calls for a full build facility only. l.ambton
Shores have made their decision and the
only question for Bluewater and South
Huron is, do they still want to participate
with a full build or not. Each council has to
make their decision as to whether they are
in or out by December 3Ist.
