Communities in Bloom vet again in
2011. All areas of Lambton Shores are
represented on the (:IB committee.
Community group representatives
throughout the municipality met with
the judges during the judging tour and
tout' guides calve from all areas of
Lambton Short's and froin all sectors of
the community.
•Ihe cochairs expressed appreciation
to all residents and businesses who par-
ticipated in our local contest "Lampton
Shores in Bloom': Committee members
were honoured to he welcomed into
amazing yards and judging these yards
was very difficult.
This year Lampton Shores competed
at the national level in 8 categories : tidi-
ileSS, environmental action, commu-
nity involvement, natural and cultural
heritage, urban forest management,
floral displays, landscaping, turf and
groundcover. Each category is subdi-
vided into 3 areas -municipal, commer-
cial/industrial and community/residen-
tial. The C1B national judges praised
our efforts and were very positive about
all 8 of the (:1B categories, especially
community involvenment, environmen-
tal action, heritage and tidiness. They
recommended that we apply for the
national award for "Environmental
action" and the committee has done
this. Once again , our community pro-
file book was a highlight for them. Cop-
ies (in 4 segments) are posted on the
Lambton Shores website). They were
also very impressed with the support
and enthusiasm of municipal staff. We
will not know our results until the end
of October. The national (;i11 confer-
ence is in Quebec City this year and the
co chairs will attend on our behalf.
