"'The Children's Turtle (harden at the
Port Franks Community Centre is
something that we have been planning
for several years," says Port Franks gar-
den club member Grace Dekker add-
ing she designed the garden and Larry
Cornelis agreed to be their consultant
for the plant material as Native Plants
is his speciality.
This garden low maintained, native
species, and self sustaining and is
meant to allow the children to interact

back of every turtle. 'There are thirteen
large segments which represents the
thirteen 0100115 which make up the
lunar year. "By counting the smaller
segments around the lower edge of the
shell, you will find there are 28, which
represents the 28 days between new
moons. We will be planting 13 different
native species surround by 28 sedge
grasses the varieties will he separated
with mulch paths for people to interact
with the garden. The head, feet and tail
will be Togs for them to sit or play on,'
says Dekker.
They will be adding signage with a
description of the garden and the
varieties of plant material used. "With
the turtle watch program being such
a big success, we felt that this would
