Symptom of heat exhaustion can include heavy sweating, weakness, fast heart rate, dizziness, nausea, fftiting and fainting. Heat is a medical emergency that can prove fatal if not treated. Symptoms include headache, dizdness, confusion and fainting. Skin may sweating or may be hot, red and dry. If someone is experiencing symptom of heat illness, they should be immediately moved to a cool place and drink liq- uids such as water or a sports drink. Apply cool water to skin or clothing and watch for signs such as fainting or confusion Avoid the sun or heat when possible. If you must go out, stay in the shade as much as possible, Find an air-conditioned tooth, If you don't have air con- ditioning in your home, go to the mall, library or recreational facility. If you can't find an air-condi- tioned facility, take a cool shower or bath, keep curtains or blinds drawn during the hottest part of the day. Wear lightweight, loose -fit- ting clothes. Wear a wide - brimmed hat and suglasses. Avoid intense or moderately intense physical activity. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist to see if your medi- cadon makes you more vulner- able to extreme heat. Check on children, seniors, and persons with disabilities and individuals with chronic illness. Make sure they are well hydrated and have no signs of heat -related illness. Never leave anyone, includ- ing pets, alone in a closed, parked vehicle. Use fans to draw cool air at night; do not rely on a fan as a primary cooling device during extended periods of excessive heat. �,,,u Check with your your local tAk places that may he available for people who need relief from the heat.
