Rapunzel has nothing on
Elly Jamieson when it comes to
hair- and now that hair is com-
ing off.
Jamieson, who has been
employed by Colonial Gables
for the past 37 years has always
been known for her cascading
hair. In the past few years she
has offered to cut her hair for
charity but that option never
materialized- until now.
That is where Jaime Eckel
steps in. Her friend Jaclyn
Rader is doing a 60 kilometer -
two -day walk in support of her
mom Brenda who has cancer,
and Eckel wants to help the
cause and her friend.
The Shoppers Drug
Mart'Weekend to end Wom-
en's Cancers will benefit the
Campbell Family Institute at
the Princess Margaret Hospital
thanks to the courageous
efforts of everyday people
making a difference. And two
of those wotnen are Eckel- who
will walk 60 kilometers for her
friend's mom and Elly, who
will cut her hair so dollars can
be raised for research are part
of that effort to end breast and
gynecologic cancers diseases.
One in seven Canadian women
will be diagnosed with a can-
cer -related disease in her
lifetime.
Together these two local
women will help impact the
lives of thousands across this
country.
At the Gables Jam Nite on
August 22 Brittany Kadlecik
will cut Jamieson's hair and the
girls are asking that everyone
wear pink in support of the
cause. Jamieson's hair will go
to a Canadian company.
Pledge sheets are available
at many local businesses

be at Colonial -Gables to gauge
the donations.
