Erb Family Foundation is a U.S. foundation dedicated to nurturing environmentally healthy and culturally vibrant communities In metropoli- tan Detroit and supporting initiatives to restore the Great Lakes Basin. Since the 1920s, four generations of Erb fam- ily members have cottaged in Bayfield and the family is committed to efforts improv- ing water quality, particularly in the watersheds impacting metropolitan Detroit, Michi- gan and Bayfield, Ontario. The foundation was started by Fred and Barbara Erb, of the Detroit area, and their four children. The funding will make it possible for protection and improvements in the Main Rayfield River Watershed which includes 'T'rick's Creek Watershed. The grant will foster improvements within the broader Bayfield River Watershed, including identi- fication of actions that can reduce E. coli contributions from the Bayfield River to beaches. It will also include watershed planning with the community, wetland restora- tion, and other water quality projects. The Trick's Creek tributary of the Rayfield River provides groundwater dis- charge that can support a cold -water fishery. Improve- ments to the 'Prick's Creek Watershed would help to enhance water quality in the Rayfield River.
