Soo stun for Moat Kincardine Fish Derby this weekend noy Patterson Lakeshore Advance The 26th Fish Kincardine Derby opens this weekend and is far healthier than the organizers that saved the event could ever have imagined. 'the May 20-29 event features a $5,000 Canadian The Shopping Spree as its top prize this year, with accompanying prizes to be announced later this week. Co-chair Travis Crawford said the event takes a different shape this year, with events and deals offered at a wide range of restaurants, pubs, local golf courses and downtown merchants throughout the area. "With all the support from local busi- nesses spread across Kincardine, it's set to be bigger than ever this year," said Crawford. "'that's what's going to set it apart from previous derbies. You don't necessarily have to be an angler to enjoy the Fish Kincardine Derby." Ticket sales so far are "on track," with early bird sales up from last year. Craw- ford said they hope to keep registration otl par with the 380 participants last year, which is also dependent on mother nature and the weather condi- tions she brings.
