A decade of community work is a
great milestone and that was the
premise of the celebration at the Grand
lend Community Health Centre on
r' .Saturday. 'Ihe Grand Bend Community
Foundation connects those who care
with those in need. They attract and
hold permanent endowment funds,
make annual grants to eligible organi-
zations, and provide COIUIIlunity
leadership."Alone we can do so lit-

Board (;hair Pat Morden told those in
attendance it was because of the future
thinking of the council of the day under
the leadership of former mayor Cam
Ivey. When the provinces P1JCs were
being sold councils trade decisions as
to what they wanted to do with their
$1,55 million dollars.. Under the lead-
ership of Chair thank Keech, the Foun-
dation has grown in size and reach. It
trade its first grants in 2002 and has
since granted more than $800,000. 'Ihe
endowment fund has grown to almost
$2 million. Morden said there is 00 one
who Inas not been touched in one way
or another by a grant from this
Foundation.
Bend residents in neighboring
communities, such as the Lamb -
ton Shores Recreational Complex
in Forest, and South 1 luron 1 lospi-
tal Association in Exeter.
'Ihe GBCI has done great things
for the community, says Morden,
but as always, their focus is on the
future. "We want to be able to be
able to do more great things next
year and the year after , and for
many decades to come. And that
means building our endowment
fund." One way of doing that is to
promote the idea of a family fund.
This is it named fund within the
(;BCF Community of Environment
fund.

cians for the Environment , Profes-

cerns and linked thein to the roles
that environmental, economic,
socio-political and
medical systems play in creating
and maintaining these conditions.
Just as the Grand Bend Commu-
nity Foundation looks to the future
with their grants, I)r. Howard says
society must look to the future gen-
