— Work was startedthis week on
cutting the supply of ice Which will be
required in Wingham during the com-
ing summer.
—The editor of the TimEs is indebted
to our friend, Mr. D. Laugheed for a
piece of Scotch shortbread. Mr. Lang -
heed received a supply from a friend in
Glasgow.
—The brick work on the large addi-
tion to the Walker & Clegg furniture
factory has been completed. The roof
will be placed on the building in a few
days.
— Mr. F, N. Haines, manager of the
Bank of Hamilton at Ripley has been
transferred to Blyth and Mr. F. S.
Sturt, of Blyth, and formerly of Wing -
ham, has been transferred to Ripley.
—Another long list of postoffices cut
off, chiefly as a result of rural free de-
livery extension appears in The Canada
Gazette and Haron has four.—Blake,
Chiselburst, Drysdale and II-arondale.
—The fourteenth annual At Home of
the Huron °Id Boys' Association will be
held in the I.O.O.F. Temple in Toronto
on Friday evening, February ,20th. yhe
TIMES editor wishes to thank the Assoc-
iation for forwarding a complimentary
ticket.
—Brother Kerr, of the Brussels Post
very kindly says: We congratulate
Brother H. B. Elliott on heading the
Aldermanic brigade in Wingham on
election day and hope in due course he
may climb the municipal ladder to the
top rung and not get dizzy.
—There should be a strong desire and
a stronger determination on the part of
every farmer in this Province to have
the best facilities and know the latest
and best farm. Farming is a business
and a good one. To make it the success
it ought to be, business methods must
be taken advantage of. The first move
you make should be to subscribe for The
Weekly Sun, The Farmer's Business
Paper. It costs a little but means a lot
to the farmer who is looking for profit-
able results.
—Mr. D. McPherson received a car
load of hay from Tilbury on Monday.
—Correspondents will confer a great
favor if they send news budgets and
letters so that they will reach the TIMES
office not later than noon on Tuesday.
We are this week again ..oreed to lay

the office until Wednesday morning.
— With greater suddenness than had
been anticipated the end came early
Friday morning to a life of long and
eminent usefulness in Canadian affairs,
with the death of Senator George A.
Cox at the age of Seventy-four, at. his
home at 439 Sherbourne street, Toronto,
—We have heard several complaints
of a party who is molesting young girls
at night. The authorities are on the
1Gokout and if these actions are repeat-
ed he will soon receive the just punish-
ment meted out to criminals of this
class. Let him take warning.
—An entertainmentin the Town Hall,
Tuesday, Jan. 27th, "An Old Time
Ladies' Aid Business Meeting at the
Mohawk Cross Roads." Local talent,
dresses and gowns representing the
styles of fifty years ago. Come and
