Township receives grant for playground

tions and guidelines for the location of wind
turbines -to municipalities and wind energy
developers.
Also council endorsed the resolution of
the City of Kawartha Lakes petitioning the
provincial government to instruct health
officials to conduct a study of the adverse
health effects now being experienced where
windmill projects are fully operational to
determine the possible adverse health
.effects; a full environmental study to be
done to determine the possible impact on the
conservation areas and the Oak Ridges
Moraine and that an independent economic
impact study be done to deteymine all relat-
ed potential costs that will be incurred by the
municipality and the effects on property val-
ues in the affected areas prior to any further
permits being issued or wind projects being
commenced.
Lewis Park
Huron -Kinloss Twp. Council was suc-
cessful in their grant application to Farm
Credit Canada towards new playground
equipment in Lewis Park.
The, township will receive a grant of
$7,000 towards the equipment. The money
will help fulfill the committee's final man-
date to provide a piece of equipment for
children ages seven to 12.
Council also approved the submission of
an application to the Bruce Community
Futures Rural Development Fund Local
Initiatives program in partnership with the
Ripley Business Community. The Ripley
Business Community did not meet the crite-
ria for the -application because they are not a
registered not-for-profit organization.
Administrator Mary Rose Walden said
future funding would help with the
streetscaping 'plans to purchase banners,
decorations or more planters.
Later, council passed a bylaw to dissolve
the Lewis Park Committee.
Celebration
A groundbreaking completion celebration
has been scheduled for the Point Clark
northwest area and Huron Road street
reconstructions and watermain replace-
ments. -
The celebration will take place on Jan. 5,
2010, at 10 a.m., at the Point Clark
Community Centre. The public is invited to
aitend the celebration. •
The projects were funded by the Building
Canada Fund and the Recreational
Infrastructure Canada program. The Huron -
Bruce MP and MPP will be on hand to take
part in the celebration of the renovation
completion.
S.M.A.R.T.
Representatives of the Saugeen Mobility
and Regional Transit (S.M.A.R.T.) are being
invited to Huron -Kinloss Twp. council.
Council received a letter from S.M.A.R.T.
requesting support to secure .funding with
the LHIN for the communities that benefit
from specialized disability transportation
services offered by the group. Council ques-
tioned whether their services are actually
offered in Huron -Kinloss Tbvp. They hope to
learn more about the group before offering
their support.
Lucknow Well
Huron -Kinloss Twp. Council authorized
the emergency purchase of a well pump for
Lucknow Well#5 at a cost of $27,386 to be
funded from the Lucknow area Waterworks
reserve.
A video camera inspection was conducted
earlier this year and it was noted that the
existing 1960s well pump had reached the
end of its usage. W.D. Hopper & Sons is
also in the process 'of installing a new stain-
less steel pump in the well.
