It was great being a Lucknowite
It's amazing how fast a year goes.
Yes, this ismy last week working
at the Lucknow Sentinel as Sara
will be returning from her
maternity leave. All I can say is
it has been a privilege to work
and live here for the past year.
I didn't know what to
expect when I first arrived
in Lucknow. I was told by
my excellent
neighbour/landlord Nancy.
MacIntyre that Lucknow
was a close knit community. Through
all of my reporting and picture taking
witnessed . just that, people in vari-
ous facets helping the community
with things like church events,
school activities, Summerfest, the
Fall Fair, Music in the Fields and
much more. It was also great to just
walk down the street and get a friend-
ly hello from everyone I passed.
It also showed me the importance
of a small community newspaper in
that it showcases what the village
has to offer, that being a friendly
atmosphere, kindness and a com-
mitment to local business, etc.
I think most people who read
the Sentinel realize how sports
minded I am. I have to admit,
that yes .I wrote a lot about
sports in my columns and
went to the majority of
Lancer games. Sports I feel is
one of the things that makes a
community great as well. A majority
of the kids play minor sports in town
and it just makes it a fun time to be
part of that throughout the year, but
especially hockey for myself.
Iknow I'll be back to visit and I'll
try to catch a few . Lancer games. I
want to thank the community, for
making me feel , welcome this past
year especially Pat, Ruth, Sara and
Betty Anne.
Remember when...
