Jeannette Poirier,
a ' former Value
Village employee,
has started up a
thrift shop in
Lucknow called Me
2 You Thrift Shop.
Originally from
Kitchener,- Poirier
who had a cottage
in Goderich, is
familiar with the
area and thought
there was a need for
a thrift store- in the
village.
"I have always
wanted to open up -a
. second hand store
and when I looked
at Lucknow I
always knew it
would make a great
spot for a thrift.
shop," said Poirier.
"I looked around
the area and I
thought there was a
lot of potential
here."=
Poirier y
thinks that a thrift
shop is something
people need. in any
community because
if there is *some-
thing they can't find
anywhere they can
come into her shop
and if she doesn't
have it, she'll try
her hardest to find
it. She also believes
it's a great place for
bargains, especially
for those looking
fora deal.
"In this day and
age a good deal is
important because
everyone wants
nice things, but not
at such an expen-
sive price," said
Poirier.
Poirier started the
business on Aug. 1
and said there has
been a good
response - to the
business from peo-
ple who have pur-
chased items and
she thinks thinks alot of
that has to do with
word of mouth and
the amount of
advertising she has
been doing to get
the word out about
her store. She also
mentioned she has a
bit of anything and
everything in her
stone and, like she
mentioned before,
if she doesn't have
it • she'll try her
hardest to find it.
"I have a big
assortment of
everything from
furniture, dishes,
toys, clothing, etc
for men and women'
of all ages," said
Poirier.
Poirier also pro-
vides consignment,
which W. is people
bring in items for
sale and it's a 50/50
split for her and the
other person. She
knows that there are
things people don't
use anymore and
someone else could
getuse out of it. For
Poirier it's all a part
of what makes a
thrift store great,
finding just the
right item a person
is looking for.
Poirier also
prides herself on
being a people per-
son and she enjoys
interacting . with
people all day and
says a thrift shop is
the perfect place to
do that.
"It's an exciting
business because
you get to see all
sorts of interesting .
items," said Poirier.
"You also get to
meet ail different
kinds. of people aid
that's a great and
interesting part of
the business."-
One
usiness.One thing for
sure is Poirier is
excited about her
future in Lucknow
and the response
she has already
received from the
area.
"'Things are going
well and I have a
good feeling about
wherethe store is
going," said Poirier.

potential for a thrift store in Lucknow and
feels it's a good fit for the community.
