Sentinel Staff
At the Lucknow and
District Joint Recreation
Board, facility manag-
er/recreation co-ordina-
tor Bob Zubel gave a
repi rt addressing the
requests made by the
Lucknow Minor Hockey
Board at the recent rec
board meeting.
The first request was
taking over responsibili-
ty of the coaching clinics
the arena holds every
year.
"I thought it was in my
best intereus that I han-
dle the coaches clinic
because I have experi-
ence with running them,"
said Zubel. •
The next issue was
providing the package
information in the recre-
ation office for every
tournament held in the
arena. Zubel didn't see
any reason why they
couldn't do it.
The third request was
the handling oL online
registration .for minor
sports. Zubel said that
could be easily done
through the recreation
office.
The fourth request was
the rec board be respon-
sible for handling the
police checks required
for any adult helping out
with minor sports. The
Rec board wasn't 100
per cent sure whose
responsibility it ultimate-
ly was and will check the
details Out with the
minor hockey board.
The final request was
the use of the recreation
office for providing
copies and printing for
the minor hockey board.
Zubel said that hockey
board members could
ask arena staff for access
to the office any time
they wanted during oper-
ation hours.

Silver Stick banners
Bob Gunter, the chair
of the Lucknow. Silver
Stick Tournament com-
mittee presented the rec
board with a request to
purchase .20 banners dis-
playing the tournament
logo. The proposed ban-
ners would be placed on
the lamp posts along
Campbell Street.,
"The idea is for people
who are from town and
who drive through
Lucknow to know about
the tournament before it
starts," said Gunter.
Gunter said the initial
price for the' 20 two-
sided banners would be
$3500 and would be
about 30" x 48". Gunter
said the banners would
be placed on the opposite
side of each Christmas
Wreath as to not get in its
way.
The rec board dis-
cussed the proposal from
Gunter and decided that
they would defer it to
next year's bddget. ,
Zubel said it's just not in
the budget for 2009:
On another note the
rec board did agree to be
a sponsor for the
Lucknow Silver Stick
Tournament.
