The Wolves defeated the Lancers 9 - 4 in a game where special teams let the Lancers down. The Lancers were ready to bounce back from an 11-3defeat in Elora last week, but that wasn't the case , as inconsis- tent defensive play hindered the Team's offensive chances. "We were awfully sloppy down in their end, said Lancers head Coach Greg Hamilton. ` `Once we got possession of the puck in their end we just started throwing it away and giving them chances to go dawn and score." The first period was back and forth while both teams sized each other up. There was a lot of neu- tral zone play as neither team seemed to want to control the puck. They traded goals and things looked even going into the second. The Wolves started the period by taking a few penalties, :but that didn't seem to hurt. them as they reeled off two shorthanded goals in the period by Ripley forward Nick Locking. The powerplay for the Lancers was a double. edged sword as they were able to charge a come- back by scoring three powerplay goals to tie things up in the second frame. h .
