Halloween is a fun time of year
All of the ghosts and goblins will
be out this weekend as Halloween
falls on a Saturday this year. I would
have to say Halloween is one of my
favourite times of year and it has
been since I was a little kid all the
way up to the big kid I am today.
I can remember dressing up
on some very cold Halloween
nights and mymom making
me put on around four layers of
clothing just so I'd stay warm.
It was all done in protest
because I believed it took
away from my costume's
effect. One year I looked
like an overweight
Spider -Man because I had
about four large sweaters on.
I also remember going as Tweety
Bird one year and at the tune I
thought it was a pretty smooth cos-
tume (I was six -years -old). I think I
had a Tweety Bird mask with a yel-
low track suit on. Come to think of
it now, I probably looked like a
Tweety Bird Pez dispenser.
One of my more memorable trick
or treating years was the one year h
went as Luke Duke from the Dukes
of Hazzard: TV show. My brother
and I were. hardcore watchers of the
show and we never missed :an.
episode. There are many pictures
throughout the house of .my brother
and I. in our Dukes of Hazzard
sweatshirts and sweat pants combo.
I was so proud to be out as Luke
Duke, one of the Duke boys who
always seemed to wrangle out of the
trouble they got into in each episode
of the show.
This is probably also a good
time to thank my parents for
taking me out when I was
younger. I'm sure it was a
handful to take three boys out
every Halloween and watch
us get hopped up on sugary
candy.
As I got older, the trick or
treating went away and now
I enjoy going to the various
parties my friends have thrown over
G '
the years. My university days were
especially fun as my entire school, at
Laurier got into the Halloween spir-
it.
My last year there I went as Silent
Bob from the Kevin _ Smith movies
and I would have to say that I
looked a lot like hon. I grew a beard
put a long wig on, a long' black
trench coat and I even ordered the
Mooby hat off of the intetnet. I had
a good time .that night and was
approached by a lot .of people who
liked my costume.
I'm hoping Halloween will be as
exciting this year wherever I end up.
