Board will go over all the necessary points so they can be clear on anything the LMHB may need as far as help goes for the future. "We have to work with these guys because they are volun- teers and can't do it all on their own," said president of the Rec Board Don Murray. "We have to help them as much as we can." The Rec Board is pleased with the progress the LMHB has made this year and were also pleased to see the minutes of their meetings are much improved. The new addition of Diane Angst as LMS secre- tary has been positiveand she has helped better organize those meetings. Zubel was also pleased to see that 236 .kids have registered for minor hockey this year. Juvenile Silver Stick Bob Gunter and the Silver Stick Committee have made a request to the Rec Board for financial assistance to purchase banners with the Silver Stick logo on them to hang from the lamp posts on Campbell Street for the week of the tournament. The Rec Board is, always in support of the tournament but raised questions that, they might interfere with the Christmas decorations .on the lamp posts. The Rec Board was unsure if it .would- be possible to order the banners in time for the tourna- ment as well. Zubel said he would discuss it with Gunter to get further details on the, topic and to figure out a resolution to the request. SWORFA update The Lucknow and Distract Sports Complex will be hosting a quarterly South Western Ontario Recreation : Facilities Association (SWORFA) meet- ing on Oct. 30. SWORFA meet.: Ings are organized so area recur- ation managers can meetto dis- cuss common issues and exchange solutions and ideas to problems all managers face in the industry. "It will be 'good ' to showcase the arena and all of the new ongoing projects we have," said Zubel ORFA The Lucknow and District, Sports Complex will` be hosting a four day Ice Making and Equipment Operating (IMEO) training course between Nov. 2 and Nov. 5. The Ontario Recreation Facilities Association (ORFA) will be training staff along with 12 oth- ers in the Lucknow area lin the areas of ice maintenance, build- ing maintenance, safe equip- ment operations as well as pro- vide essential knowledge on recognizing and troubleshooting building systems problems. The training will provide a key ele- ment in the designation process recognized by ORFA and will allow staff to exercise their duties with confidence. Through SWORFA the train- ing opportunity is offered at a reduced cost of $600 per 1)erson rather than the $840 per person regularly charged to non-mem- bers. "It will definitely make the staff more confident when things go wrong," said Zubel. "It could be a factor of having staff fix a problem rather than having to call a contractor."
