Wing
There was a
torte turn
around in the
weather this past
week and the
a : Wingham Golf and
Curling Club sure
felt the difference.
The Tuesday
night ladies were
unable to golf but
enjoyed their clos-
ing night with sup-
per in the club-
house. Twenty-six
of the ladies came
out and relaxed,
chatted and shared
some laughs.
Linda Walker has
taken over the job
as ladies captain.
Carol Oriold for-
mer captain did a
great job and will
help Lin 1a main-
tain the quality of
leadership and
organization in the
future.
The Wednesday
men had a cold wet
morning but some
of the die-hards
came to golf.
Winners were
Wayne Gordon,
first; Jamie
Sanderson, second
and Bill Johnston,
third.
Thursday night
men had their final
official night but
weather permitting
they will still be
out for a few more
weeks.
Buff's group
tried a different
format this week as
every golfer was
only allowed two
clubs of their
choice and a putter,
nice light bag and
very interesting
strategy. The win-
' ners were closest -
to -the -pin
Richard Watson,
longest putt
Dwight Leslie,
John Nicholson
and Watson,_ hid-
den score - Perry
Haulk and Neil
Bieman. The low
gross was Dave
Gamble with a 32.
Saturday the
club hosted a three
man scramble tour-
nament.
Twenty-seven
golfers came keen
to play in this 18
hole best ball event
but after three
stoppages due to
rain and lingering
clouds the men
called it quits after
nine holes.
