BlackHorse seniors wrap up season The BlackHorse seniors golf final wrap-up game and banquet took place last week, with the two senior leagues (mixed and men) joined forces to launch the final attack on "The Horse". It was a net team score from the blues. First place team with 21 under par was John Gross, Jim Cooper, George. Armstrong, Jan Grant, and Larry Cerson. Second place with .18 under par was Miro Tadla, Richard Papineau, Doug Foell, Gladys Hamilton and Doug Wilson Sr . Low net for the men were John Gross (67), Miro Tadla (68) and a four-way tie for third with Jim Cooper, Walter Arnold, Art Helm • and Sheamus Keene (69). Ladies low net went to Chris Evans (68), Gladys Hamilton (69) and Marge Heimpel (73). Now for some interesting stats from this year. Richard co-ordinated both senior leagues .and it ' will be a tough act to follow. John and Karen Gross have moved to Waterloo. We will miss all of you. Wehad a great prize table this year. and we want to thank everyone who scrounged prizes for us. Finally, the sen- iors league write- ups have made the international stage because John Fludder sends it to friends in the USA. Wing There was a torte turn around in the weather this past week and the a : Wingham Golf and Curling Club sure felt the difference. The Tuesday night ladies were unable to golf but enjoyed their clos- ing night with sup- per in the club- house. Twenty-six of the ladies came out and relaxed, chatted and shared some laughs. Linda Walker has taken over the job as ladies captain. Carol Oriold for- mer captain did a great job and will help Lin 1a main- tain the quality of leadership and organization in the future. The Wednesday men had a cold wet morning but some of the die-hards came to golf. Winners were Wayne Gordon, first; Jamie Sanderson, second and Bill Johnston, third. Thursday night men had their final official night but weather permitting they will still be out for a few more weeks. Buff's group tried a different format this week as every golfer was only allowed two clubs of their choice and a putter, nice light bag and very interesting strategy. The win- ' ners were closest - to -the -pin Richard Watson, longest putt Dwight Leslie, John Nicholson and Watson,_ hid- den score - Perry Haulk and Neil Bieman. The low gross was Dave Gamble with a 32. Saturday the club hosted a three man scramble tour- nament. Twenty-seven golfers came keen to play in this 18 hole best ball event but after three stoppages due to rain and lingering clouds the men called it quits after nine holes.
