Hart is bringing dance to Lutknow
BY GARI'T' REED
Sentinel Staff
Since opening
on Sept. 14, Jenn
Hart's dance stu-
dio, Danceology
has been getting
an influx of inter-
ested dancers and
Hart has made
dance fun and
interesting for
many of the youth
of Lucknow and
area.
Hart said in
addition to
Lucknow, she has
been getting stu-
dents from Ripley,
Teeswater and
Wingham as well.
There is a lot of
buzz in the village
and .Hart has , 60
dancers already
enrolled into her
studio. She has
been overwhelmed
with how much
i n t e res t
Danceology has
received in Just
under a month.
"Tho first few
weeks- have been
amazing," said
Hart. "I have been
overwhelmed,but
in a good way. I
can't believe how
big of a response I
have gottenI truly
believe that this
will be a . success-
ful business."
What used to be
the Family 'YMCA
Daycare has been
transformed into a
full fledged dance
studio, where
Hart's students
have the chance to
hone their skills as
dancers while hav-
ing fun at the same
time. Hart saw a
need for dance
studio in a village
that didn't have
one and she pro-
vided that oppor-
tunity.
"Initially I was
looking for the
support of the
town and I defi-
nitely got that,"
said Hart. "I was
just hoping to get
enough students to
get the business f'up
and running, and I
have done that and
some. I wanted
somewhere where
I could teach what
I love . and I have
found that hi

Hart has also
heard a lot of pos-
itive feedback
from students that
their parents are
happy at how
much theirkids
are learning and
.how ` much fun
they are having.
Hart said it's
important to give
the best dance
experience her
studentscan get.

a lot of the parents
have said they've
been enjoying
Danceology," said.
Hart. "There has
also been a lot of
practicing going
on at home, so . the
kids can be ready.
for class. When
• they leave class
each week, ` they
can't wait forthe
next class to
begin." .
Fora lot of the
students, dancing
is new to them and
it's a chance for
them to see what
they can do. She
has also seen a lot
of natural talent in
her students in just
the few short
weeks Danceology
has been open.
"There hasn't
been anything
around like this
for ,girls and : boys
and I hope this
gives them the
experience to pur-
sue dance if they
so choose," said
Hart. "I would say
out of the 60
dancers I have,
only about .10 of
them have any
dance experience.
There is just so
much natural tal-
ent that I've seen,

from flexibility,
body control ` and
how to hold the
body as a dancer."
Hart . has also
seen her students
become stronger
mentally and
physically because
the more they
learn, the more
they want to
accomplish. Hart
believes it's a
learning experi-
ence for both her
and her students.
Her students are
able to learn dance
from her and Hart
gets to experience
how much some-
one can learn
when properly
motivated.
"I was on my
third week of
classes and you
could already see
how hard a lot of
the girls are try-
ing. You can just
see their confi-
dence with just
even their stance
and ability to push
everything as far
as they can," said
Hart. "We do this
handstand hold
every class where
the kids have to
stay still against a
wall and in the
first week it was
hard for a lot_ of
them to hold it for
30 seconds. Now
most of the kids
can hold it for
over a minute. It's
amazing."
The Danceology
competitive team
is also making
positive strides as
they get ready for
competitions start-
ing on April 22.
Hart said it takes a
lot of work and
dedication to get
her team ready,
but she knows
they will be ready
when the time
comes. •
"We go through
the choreography,
then polishing it,
facials and also go
through hair,
makeup and cos-
tumes," said Hart.
"It's a lot of work
but it's well worth
the effort. The
team is already
excited about
going."
"I already have
a lot of interest for
next year. A lot of
people who had
scheduling con-
flicts have shown
interest for next
year," said Hart.
"The future looks
good."
