Photo 6y Garit Reid BlackHorse golf results Bl:a.ckHorse mixed seniors on Sept. 21, was a lit- tle different due to the rairi. Only four people showed up, Richard Papineau, Stan Grant, Bruce Heimpel and Glen Matthews. Eighteen holes -of golf were played after the rain stopped. Bruce Heimpel didwin the "Fluke" prize on hole number seven. His drive landed four feet from the water, he miss -hit his second shot, which trav- eled through some bull -rushes, zing- ing past the • heads of some geese, across the water, into the • hill between the sand trap and green, then up onto the 519-345-2250 -800-265-6584 Sunday, Sept. 20 Was fantastic day at the Wingham Golf and ..Curling Club. The club held `their seventh annual fall barbecue and received record attendance. Cardiff catering did. a great job again and _Jeff reported 678 .hun gry patrons enjoyed the ham and beef supper. Lloyd Morrison, head of the organizing com- mittee did a terrific job with excellent assistance •. from many volunteers. Thanks Lloyd! In conjunction with the barbecue this yearthe club held a silent auction. This also was a huge success. Monday the Red Hat ladies joined us at the club for lunch.The gals enjoyed soup and kaisers and the staff was happy to have them. Tuesday night the club hosted a group from Keil Insurance. green. Then he drained a 40 footer for a birdie. Papineau won the most honest golfer. Heimpel and Matthews won the day and also split the winnings for the fewest putts. BlackHorse sen- ior men on Sept. 24 was three-man teams from the blues, in a scram- ble on the front nine, best score on the back nine and elimination on the par fives. First place went to Walter Arnold, Dave O'Donnell and Barry McDonagh. Second place went to Bill Brace, Sheamus Keene and John Wood. Closest -to -the -pin on number two was Doug Wilson Sr. and on number 13 was Glen Matthews. The 2009 senior leagues are wind- ing down. Thursday is the final game fol- lowed by a close- out banquet. Hopefully the good weather holds out until then. BlackHorse Ladies On Sept. 23 15 BlackHorse ladies enjoyed a round of golf on a very pleasant evening. The prizes went to Barb Helm for fewest putts and Ruth Price for most putts. Sept 30 his our the outing for the ladies with -the closing dinner on Oct. 4 at 5 On. Wednesday sen- ior men again had a dull looking day to play golf. They had 14 golfers and the win- ners were first Jamie Sanderson, .. second Wayne Gordon and third John'hyrell. Winner of the men's match play was Doug Neil who edged out Bob Gavreluk in the final. Thursday night men had 40 golfers this past week, again great num- bers. Winners were closest to the pin Dave Gamble, longest putt Rob Gallaher, Russ Taylor and Corey Hayter, hidden scores Aart DeVos and Joe Clark. Low gross was Gamble with a great 34. There was a tie for second at 38 between Don Rae and Zach O'Kraflca. Friday; Sept: 26 the. Eighty seven gals and guys enjoyed a delicious roast beef supper. • Saturday the Soers family and friends joinedus for nine holes of golf and lunch. There were 27 golfers and everybody enjoyed the day. Later in the day the Kuyver.li oven group representing the . Upper Deck t Youth Center came out to the club and played 18 holes of golf before joining in the clubhouse for a beef supper. The . Wingham Golf and Curling Club wouldlike to congratulate ..
