Fair will be a "Bea Berry Good Time" BY GARIT REID• Sentinel Staff People will have a "Beary Berry Good Time" at this year's 146th Ripley -- Huron Fall Fair. The Ripley Agricultural Society is *filed to host the Ripley Fall Fair from Sept. 25 - 26. The theme for the event is "Have a Beary Berry Good Time at the Fall Fair." "We are hoping for more growth -this year with a big local turnout," said Agricultural Society presi- dent Mark Robinson. "We are hoping the dancing tractors bring a big crowd on the Saturday. It's quite a sight to see." The fair will begin with a pre -teen dance on Thursday, Sept. 24, from 7 - 9:30 p.m. in Ole auditori- um at the arena with Power Maio and Scott Rees. The chaperoned event is for Grades 5 - 8 and admission is $5. The fairgrounds will open at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25 with. Classic Amusements Midway and visitors can ride 'the mid- way for $25. The third annual Garden Tractor Pull will begin at 7 with registration at 6 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., the Super Frog contest will be held at 7:30 p.m., the Ambassador Competition will take place in the auditorium with a variety show and entertainment by Paulette Lippert and Brontae Hunter along with a pie and cake auction. The main events begin on Saturday, Sept. 26 with the Mammoth Parade at 11:30 a.m. on the main street. In the afternoon fair -• • visitors can view the - largest exhibit of agricul- tural displays in the area in the Ripley arena with poul- try and t -bone show and sale. Other events include the midway; dairy and sheep 4-H competitions, Itapa Kidz Trains, where children can be "engineers" in, a miniature train world, John Murray miniature horses; log sawing and nail driving, on the ball dia- mond in the afternoon; karaoke singing competi- tion on the arena floor at 1 p.m.; car and truckshow, an antique tactor display; oldest lady ,and and gent and youngest person attending the fair competi- tion and new to the fair, square dancing tractors at 3:30 p.m. on the ball dia- mond. Entertainment on Saturday will include The Bidlagh Bunch on the main stage after opening cere- monies.- Saturday. ight is the fall fair dance featuring Crazymaker. The age of majority event begins at 9 p.m. in the Ripley arena. Tickets are $10 per person. "We are hoping everyone is looking forward to the fair," said Robinson. "It's a great family atmosphere and we are hoping every- one will come out and enjoy all of the events." Admission to the fair on Fiiday is $3 (children ages five and under are free); and Saturday, adults $5 and students (12 and under) $2 and children ages five and under are free.
