Wow, what a party! I would like to thank every-
one who came out to help me celebrate my
50th birthday. Thanks for the gifts, cards and
good wishes and for everyone travelling and
making it a day I will not forget. Thanks to my
sisters for helping with the meal and Dan
Johnston for smoking the meat, it was all deli-
cious. There were some who travelled a great
distance, Avis and her family came from
England so our families could celebrate our
birthdays together. It was great. Last but not

MILLER
Dorothy (McDonald) Miller of Lucknow, passed away at Wingham hos-
pital on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009 at the age of 93. She was the beloved
wife of the late Eldon Miller (Oct. 9, 1916 to Jan. 30, 1998). Dorothy and
Eldon were married May 15, 1935 and celebrated 62 years of marriage.
She was born on June 25, 1916 in West Wawanosh Township to the late
Mary (Dumin) and Colin McDonald. She was the oldest of nine children.
Survived by daughters Dods Nicholson of Holstein and Lois (Ross)
Dumin of Lucknow, son-in-law Don Cameron of Lucknow, 12 grandchil-
dren, 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great -great-grandchildren. Sister of
Harvey (Gladys) McDonald and Helen (John) Nicholson and sister-in-
law of Darlene McDonald. Predeceased by daughter Margaret
Cameron, son-in-law Wilmer Nicholson and siblings Cheers, Norman,
Gordon, Earl, Vema and Marvin. Visitation was held from MacKenzie &-
McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow, on Sunday, Aug. 16.. The funeral
service was held from the chapel on Monday, Aug. 17 with Rev. C.
Harvey ,officiating. Mary Lou Haynard was the organist. ;Pallbearers
were grandsons: Randy Nicholson, Gregory Nicholson, Shane
Nicholson, Steven Dumin, Colin Cameron and Richard Elliott. Flower
bearers were: Barbara Elliott, Cheryl deGreef, KathyArmstrong, Colleen
Boyle, Melanie Stephen, and Ruth Anne Askes. interment Greenhill
Cemetery, Lucknow. Donations to Pine_ crest Resident's Council,
Lucknow United Church or chsappreciated charity of ciltooe were greatly appreciated as

MACiNTYRE
Dr. Alexander Grant Maclntyre, with his wife and daughters at his side,
Alex passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 in
Toronto, from complications after heart surgery in June. Beloved hus-
band of Josee, loving father of Johanna (David) and Ruth -Ann, doting
grandfather of Madelyn and Adam and dear brother of Mary McIntosh.
Will also be missed by his extended family and in-laws in . .taro and
Holland. Predeceased by parents, Archibald and Norma, and brothers,
Allan and Donald. Alex was born in Lucknow, Ontario in 1930 and had
fond memories of life growing . up on the farm with family and friends.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed and excelled at academics and athletics.
in [ 1948, Alex began Medical School at the University of Toronto. He
moved to England in 1951 to attend Oxford University Medical School
on a Clinical Scholarship and earned a B.A. in Physiology, MA (Oxon),
BM B Ch (Oxon) and prizes in Pathology and Surgery. Alex was captain
pf the Oxford University hockey team. During 1955.1961, he held vari-
ous : university post -graduate posts in Oxford, Heidelberg, Paris
(Sorbonne) and Boston (Harvard) and completed his FRCS (Edinburgh)
and FRCS (England). During 1961-1970, Alex held resident and: con-
sultant neurosurgeon posts in Liverpool hospitals. After settling in
Alliston, Ontario to practice:, family medicine and general surgery in
1970, he marred Josue van der Schllden in Amsterdam in 1971. Alex
cared passionately for his community, its health care and its hospital. He
participated in many local health care initiatives: In 1999, Alex began an
active . retirement. His many hobbies included sports (downhill skiing,
baseball, inline and ice skating), traveling, carpentry and studying histo -
y and languages. Alex cherished his extensive network of friends and
colleagues around the world. He also enjoyed being a member of
Mansfield Ski Club, Vincent's Athletics Club, Oxford University Alumni &
Veritas discussion group. Many thanks to Drs. Affoo, Keshodfy, Carroll
& Robson at Stevenson Memorial Hospital, Alliston, and the Critical
Care Team at North York General Hospital, Toronto. Visitation will be
held Thursday, Aug. 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. and :7.to 9 p.m. The funeral serv-

Jean Deyell of Wingham, at.Wingham & District Hospital, Friday, Aug.
21, 2009, age 88 years. The ,former Jean Johnston, beloved wife of the
late Percy Deyell, who predeceased her in 1980. Dear mother of Tom
and Brenda Deyell of Wingham. Loving grandmother of Greg (Denise),
Ryan and Eric (Christa) Deyell and great-grandmother of Rhody and
Tori. Also survived by her sisters Mary Martin of Wingham and Doris and
Bert Moss of St. Augustine, sisters-in-law Ruth Johnston, Nell Johnston
and Della Quinn. Predeceased by her parents Mark and Mary (Conley)
Johnston, her brothers Keith,- : Wayne, Lloyd, Everett and Clifford
Johnston and by her sister Vera Hodgins. Visitation was. at McBurney
Funeral Home, Wingham, Monday, Aug. 24. The funeral service was
held at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, Aug. 25 with Rev. Perry
