Baseball is bigger than steroids
1 am a huge Boston Red Sox fan and
the game of baseball has been hit hard
in the last few years because of the
steroid scandal. It hadn't really
phased me because 1 think the game
is bigger than that and it can over-
come scandal and tragedy.
• However,. a few weeks back I
was a little shocked that the
mighty DH David Ortiz (Big
Papi) of my. beloved Red Sox
was named in the 2003 PED
(performance cnhancing
drugs) list.
It was a shock to say the least
because he has given earlier reports that
he had never taken anything and said
any offenders of the drug policy should
get the maximum suspension setout by
Major League Baseball.
It hurts as a baseball fan because
Ortiz is considered one of the
nicest guys in baseball and for
anyone to stay clean from this
scandal, I thought it would be my
Big Papi.
It's just another thing base-
ball. has to get over and. as
fans they either have to look
past this or stop believing in
a game most have loved
since a little kid.
I love baseball and I'M not
about to let a few bad apples frain my
love : for the game. The . game will
always be bigger than the players, no
matte' what they do. 'or how much .y
get paid -

New approaches to health care

province -wide. ` The use of nurse

health care providers has expanded to
help meet patient care needs. The
provincial government has commit-

tioner -led clinics and 50 fainly

Significant strides have also been
• made in improving the supply of
physicians in• the :province. By 2012,
the number of doctors graduating
will have more than. doubled.
With the recent announcement of
100 new spaces, the number of med-

"Everyone deserves access to fam-

Huron -Bruce MPP `Carol ( Mitchell.
"This is not an easy challenge — but '.
our efforts are showing success. We
are committed to further increasing
access for all Ontarians by giving
them a variety : tools and options for
finding health care closer to home."
As of May 2009, Huron -Bruce's
six family health teams have hired 48
doctors, nine nurse practitioners and .
18 health care professionals, These
valued teams provide care to approx

enrolled patients. Since 2003,
800,000 Ontarians have found a fain

partnership between the McGuinty
government and the Ontario Medical
Association.
The province's most recent initia-
tive is Health Care Connect, a .pro-
gram that helps Ontarians find a fam-
